The National Gallery

Visiting the National Gallery museum is extremely overwhelming because there are millions of paintings and so many rooms that it seemed like you could be in there for days. I really enjoyed the layout of the museum because it was not hard to find my way around. The time periods were easily distinguishable and you didnt have to go through the whole museum to find the next one which was nice. My favourite section of the National Gallery Museum was the 18th-20th century. I particularly enjoyed the artist Degas section from the 1900's. The paintings of his that interested me the most were "Ballet Dancers" and "Three Dancers in Violet Tutus" because dancing was his lifelike obsession to paint. I also really enjoyed his painting called "Miss La La at the Cirque Fernando." This was an acrobat who caused a big sensation in Paris. Degas painted her suspended from the rafters of a ceiling with the rope clenched in her teeth which was very cool. I thoroughly enjoyed the museum and learning about each of the time periods, artists and their paintings.

Exquisite Westminster Abbey

Westminster Abbey is one of my favorite places to go to in London. I am very interested in the history of all the monarchy in England. Being able to walk around the abbey and just know that some of the famous people are buried right there was just mind blowing. My favorite places in the abbey were seeing where Elizabeth I and Mary Queen of Scotts were. The cool thing that the audio tour told us what that the tombs they are buried in are the same height, facing the same way in different corridors because they were each others equal and rival. Also me and four other people got to go to a prayer service by Edward I tomb which was so fascinating. Everyone in Westminster Abbey stopped at the change of the hour and said a silent prayer and then those people who wanted to have a private prayer went where we did. It was very personal and something that i am extremely excited that I got to participate in. I wish we had had more time there because i am pretty sure i could have spent hours there. The audio tour was very helpful and i enjoyed finding places like where Oliver Cromwell was buried. This has been one of my favourite places i have visited so far in London and i am sure i will go back someday.

The London Museum

Before I went to The Museum of London I was still trying to decide what to do my final project on. When i went to the section of the museum that talked about the infamous fire in London I immediately wanted to look into it and do my project on the topic. The area of the museum has a lot of pictures that were taken before the fire and afterwards. One of the coolest parts is there is a wall with quotes on it that people had said when the disastor had occured. I will definitely be back to visit the museum because it has a large amount of information and will help me with my project. I also liked the rest of the museum to which was very interesting. Many of the artifacts in there dated way back and i was very surprised that a lot of them were outside of the glass and that anyone could just touch them when they walked by. I really enjoyed going and am excited to have found such a great topic for my research paper.

London Burning

I am going to be doing my project on the fire that spread throughout the city of London. It wiped out four fifths of the city and was a huge disastor. I plan to focus on how it effected the city and eventually influenced the culture of London and how the city had to practically start over. I plan on going to see the memorial sign dedicated to the day and all of the people who died in the tragic fire. I am very interested in doing this project because it was such a large part of Londons history and i am excited to learn as much of it as possible. Also i will be visiting the London musuem again because the exhibit on the fire was very detailed and helpful. I will probably get one of the many books there they have on it and start my research that way.
